Diary Entry 86: Saigon, Sunday Night, 7 November 1965

                                                                                        Saigon
                                                                  Sunday Night, 7 November 1965

This is Sunday, but you would never have guessed it from my activity today.  Have been busy writing, briefing, and recommending since 7:30 this morning.  Finally finished work at 8:30 this evening.  Tomorrow there is more of the same in store, but hope to be through with the various reports on my trip by the end of the day.

One nice thing happened to me today.  Lieutenant Commander O'Neil took a snapshot of me standing with Lieutenand Commander Schafer about 2 weeks ago at the office.  And today he dropped in to give me a print.  I thought that was nice of him.  That is the only good thing that happened all day!

This is the photograph of Clark, left, and Lieutenant Commander Al Schafer, U.S. Navy, right, taken by Lieutenant Commander Dick O' Neil, U.S. Navy, outside of Movements Branch, Transportation Division, J-4, MACV II Headquarters, October 1965.  (Photo courtesy Richard Paris Clark, Jr. collection)

No further word on Grady. Called his office today and all his assistant knew was that they evacuated him to Clark AFB [in the Philippine Islands] for spitting up blood.
